The Winery Crashers

After crashing a balsamic vinegar producer earlier in the afternoon, we weren't done. During this amazing lunch Sarah ordered a glass of Lambrusco wine which was delicious...so delicious Sarah had to ask.

Sarah's glass of wine that started this experience...

Podere il Saliceta

The staff at Franceschetta58 let us know that it was from a local winery in Modena, Podere il Saliceto. In fact, the waitress shared that she personally knew the owners and that it wasn't too far away and we should stop by. We did.

We're Not In Napa Anymore

As we drove up to the winery, it became clear this was no Gallo wine operation. In fact, after parking we had to walk around, looking in windows and doors before finding someone to speak with.

We were greeted by an elderly couple. Despite the language barrier, we quickly discerned they were the proud parents of the owners.

Note - if you read the prior post about our Balsamic Vinegar posting (which was just prior to this visit), Paige was so enamored, she insisted on carrying the newly purchased balsamic with her into the winery ;)

Even Sadie got in on the action.

The Italian Way to Buy Wine

Similar to buying our balsamic, it became an experience. Rather than a simple transaction, they invited us to try the wines, brought us a plate of ham & crackers, took us out to the grape fields...the 5% we understood was magical.

These don't taste like grapes from the super market!

A Bakers Dozen

We drove away happily with 13 bottles to enjoy during our upcoming two week stay at a home in Amelia. We'll be enjoying these bottles with my Dad who will join us on the road. He was in Napa last week ;)
