Zlatni Rat, one of the most unique and photographed beaches in Europe, was just a mile down from our apartment in Bol, on the Croatian Island of Brač. We stopped by in the evening on our way back from a visit to the Olive Oil Museum.
The beach juts out 2,000ft into the Adriatic Sea with ocean on both sides. The stock photo below gives a good sense of what it's all about.
Zlatni Rat beach panorama:
We were all entranced watching this dude kite surf off the beach. Best part was when he'd fly.
Not a Mob Scene
In season, this place is a mob scene. In a much exaggerated sense, it felt like we were the Griswolds rolling into Wally World in National Lampoons Vacation. We continue to experience Croatia with no crowds, as we're hitting the shoulder season just right.
What This Trip is About
Yes, this is an ultimate instagramed spot, but it's not what we're taking away from this evening. The merriment and silliness that ensued on the beach as we watched the sunset was wonderful. Sarah and girls were cartwheeling, Paige & Sadie in sister-hyper mode, I was teaching the Boha-girls to skip rocks.
Here's to bottling up another memory on our Round the World trip!
