Thought it'd be fun to snapshot the girls' school principal's weekly video message from last week. It's just a few short minutes and includes several things that the girls were a part of:
Kindness Boxes
Sadie's grade did this as their PBL (Project Based Learning) for the term. They decorated boxes, wrote Kindness Poems (Sadie's below - WOW!) and filled them with donation items for 7-9 year olds. These boxes will be included in the Christmas baskets that are donated to people/families within the community through Baskets of Blessing, the organization I regularly volunteer with. The woman I work with at Baskets was there to receive the children's baskets at the ceremony and was blown away by all that the kids did; she said she was so impressed by the kids & it was quite an emotional ceremony. Sadie absolutely loved this project, and was so excited that the MAYOR of Queenstown (!) even attended their ceremony :)
International Day
Annual day at the school to celebrate the 30+ nationalities represented at the school! Not exactly a healthy item, but American quintessential, I made Rice Krispie Treats with M&Ms which were a big hit. Paige got to come and work the booth with me for a few hours, which made it even more special! We even made it into the weekly school newsletter as well. More on International Day festivities & fun in this dedicated blog post!
Bike Day Practice
Sadie's grade did some practice rides on their bikes through a course set up on the school fields (in the rain!). Next week they do a big bike ride along Lake Wakatipu (Doug is a parent chaperone), so lots of bike safety, assessments and practice leading up to then.
Nice snapshot of some of the really neat programs the girls get to experience at QPS lately!
