There's nothing pretend about what we're doing, but it's the first time I've made a big move in what I'd call a somewhat conventional life. My biggest initial lesson:
pretend to move every once in a while
The results...
Appreciate the Awesome
Friends, random things about the neighborhood, etc. It re-opened my senses, reminding me of the great things and people I'm lucky to be surrounded by every day.
Prioritize Right
Trip logistics and moving are time consuming. Despite that, we made time to spend a ton of quality time with friends. Why not do that all the time?
The Stuff
Accumulating stuff bothers me; it always has. It's not important and gets in the way. I've become a fan of the minimalist concept and enjoy Josh Becker's blog on the topic. Even if we we were pretending to move, I wouldn't want 50%+ of the things back that were part of our great purge.
Own less...create space...live more.
