Pool Day on Phú Quốc Island

I got up early for a morning run.

Sadie got a morning video call from the Locaria crew in Washington DC to wish her a happy 7th birthday.

First morning at the breakfast buffet. Average, to be expected.

Another birthday video call from Papa & Nan in San Francisco for Sadie. The call included chatting on New Zealand trip planning where they'll be joining us in March.

Paige at breakfast bookworming. It's hard to tear her away from her graphic novels these days.

School

We were off track after a few days away. The girls put up some 'tude that we nipped in the butt and went our respective ways for a Language Arts session. The girls both turned it around and had good sessions.

Class is in session.

Get Stuff Done Day

For Sarah and I this was a day to work on some travel logistics that we've been lagging on. After discussing a couple of things with Papa and Nan this morning, we made some good progress.

Around 11:30am, we found some spots by the pool at the high tops as our station. It was the perfect location, just feet from the pool where we could keep our eyes on the girls.

Our work location for 4+ hours of straight trip planning.

Swim Rats

The girls maybe got out of the pool for a total of five minutes during the next three hours. They pretty much had it to themselves for much of the time.

Watery Lunch

They didn't even get out to eat. They were pleased as punch to feel like big girls, pulling up a seat at the pool bar. Paige ordered a chicken sandwich, Sadie some noodles with chicken and vegetables. I had ordered a vegetable stir fry. When the food arrived, they on accident gave Paige my food and delivered her sandwich to me. When I went over to trade with her, she was taking down the vegetables and said "no way" she was giving them up. I didn't want a chicken sandwich, but "no way" was I going to stop her from choosing a plate full of veggies.

Girls eating, Sarah working away in the background.

Sarah and I didn't move from our work stations until sometime after 4pm.

Stand Up Paddle

I wanted to get out and on the stand up paddle board and Sadie was eager to join. We rented one right in front of our hotel. Warm island water + stand up paddle + sunset = pretty good living.

Sadie on solid rock, me on the paddle board.

Sarah had gone outside the hotel to drop off some dirty laundry. When she got back Paige and Sarah came down the beach to say hello. This prompted Paige to join Sadie and I on the stand up in a really cool spot a bit down from our hotel where lots of rocks made it feel a bit like a watering hole.

Sarah went for a walk but then also joined us in the water where we all watched the sun go down.

Dinner

We walked outside the hotel and grabbed a delicious dinner. We were hungry and it was really good, so we just kept on ordering more dishes. One of the rare occasions where we broke $20 for the dinner bill in the past couple of months.

We had a new dish (can't remember the name) which Sarah and I anointed perhaps the best in Vietnam so far. It was like a Vietnamese tostada, with a crispy rice cake with a noodle topping, chicken and lots of flavors on top - mint, peanuts, crispy onions...and of course, fish sauce!

Blogging

Sarah and the girls headed back for an early bedtime, all three exhausted. I wasn't that tired so it prompted me to go out for a foot massage. Here's a shot of my current location as I finished up this post. I need to figure how to work remote from SE Asia ;)
