P&S Have Become Travel Animals

Strangers sometimes remind us what great travelers Paige & Sadie have become. In the past 12 hours, it’s happened twice. It was during an afternoon bus to the Northern border of Thailand and transfer the following day into Laos.

Chiang Khong, here we come.

Bus Ride from Chiang Rai > Chiang Khong

We took a 2 hour public bus to Chiang Khong...side note, it cost less than a single ride on the NYC subway. While we were on the bus, a European couple continuously peeked back from their seats at Paige and Sadie, smiling to themselves. Sadie book-wormed the entire ride, almost never taking her eyes off “A Secret Garden” by Thea Stilton. Paige, sitting by the window with the wind whipping through her hair, was watching Thailand go by for the majority of the trip.

When we arrived at the destination, the couple commented how well behaved travelers they are; they’re right. Sometimes as parents we forget to recognize that, it was a nice reminder.

Slow Boat to Luang Prabang

After a quick overnight in Chiang Khong, we were up early and ready for Laos. During the border crossing and the transfer to our boat, we were joined by a couple who would be on our 2 day boat trip to Luang Prabang. The couple, from Washington DC, shared that they commented to themselves that the girls seemed totally un-phased. Upon learning of our journey and that we were 4+ months in, they immediately understood why.

At the dock, getting on our slow boat down the Mekong.

They travelers were right. The world is throwing new experiences, smells and people at them everyday. Paige and Sadie have become travel animals!
