We've been eager to visit Bologna for years. Our NYC/SF/Hong Kong friends Jackie & Gregor studied in the Italian city where they met and the rest is history. We've heard stories of late night pasta and early morning prosciutto in Bologna for years.
Young & Energetic
During our quick overnight and half day, Bologna struck us as young, fun and bustling. It's a university town; the youthful energy reminded me of the Lower East Side in Manhattan.
Arches Everywhere
Bologna immediately feels different from other Italian cities. Many of the buildings are surrounded by arches or porticos which give it a unique architectural feel.
Food Credibility
Jackie & Gregor have it. Until meeting them, we knew nothing of the deliciousness of a spring ramp or a tristar strawberry. They are card carrying NYC Food Alumni.
Eating in Bologna
On their recommendation, we made eating the main attraction eating. Broccaindosso delivered an incredible meal, the star being a kitchen sink of appetizers brought to the table and a simple and amazing ragu.
Gelato
Time for another J&G recommendation to wrap up our lunch. Il Gelatauro delivered the goods. As good a gelato as I can recall having.
Thanks for the recos Jackie & Gregor...see you & kiddos in Hong Kong in Spring 2020!
