This morning Sadie decided she want to dictate a story. I opened up my computer and happily listened to her tale as the stenographer.
When Sadie's imagination runs, get out of the way. I love that she combined parts of our NYC life with moments during this year of traveling.
Here's Sadie:
NYC Octopus
Written & Illustrated by Sadie Bohaboy
Once upon a time, there were two octopus named Jack and Violet. They were on their honeymoon. But they were also the king and queen of the coral reef. On their honeymoon, they went out to New York City because they went there when they were kids and they loved it! They were magical octopus and in only ten minutes they got all the way to New York City from the home which was a coral reef in Australia. They had magical seaweed they grabbed onto that was like a rocket blade so they could go very fast to where they wanted. When they were in New York City, they went on the subway. They got on the ⅔ subway line. They went on the 2 train downtown. When they got there, they grabbed everyone's hats and had a whole parade. Everybody cheered and clapped, they had a wonderful time. When they were off, they went to MUD which is a very nice coffee shop in the East Village. When they got to MUD they found some stained glass on the sidewalk and they went underneath the glass. When they went down there, they saw a beautiful coral reef place that was so pretty because it had beautiful gems, corals, seaweed and beautiful colored water. Then they noticed why it was so pretty, it was because they saw their castle that magical squids had moved from Australia to New York City for them. They moved it because they knew all along where they were going and that they were going to love the new place they were going to live! They loved their new home!
Since they were right underneath MUD, they got jobs there. They made the coffee. Since they were magical, the coffee was amazing. It was magical because it tasted great and it had beautiful designs. Their most famous design is the MUD logo that is orange and brown. And they became the most famous people in downtown NYC! They just finished their honeymoon. A couple years later, they had a baby octopus. Her name was Shella. They had an amazing time with Shella. Shella was a cute violet colored octopus that loved to explore the coral reef and made lots of friends. Her most best friend of all was a seahorse named Penelope.
Since Shella’s family was the most famous people in downtown, she always had a very special drink at MUD. It was a garoto with cinnamon. A garoto is a little bit of coffee with steamed milk and it doesn’t have any cinnamon or sugar. Shella loves it and has one everyday with her friend Penelope.
The End!
