Experiencing the Adriatic Sea in Croatia is simply different. The color of the water, the pleasantness of the saltiness, the smooth rocks...
Hey Google, Why is the Water So Clear Here?
They purity and visibility of the water was shocking and I didn't know why. Turns out this part of the Adriatic Sea is considered a "Marine Desert." The result is limited microorganisms such as algae or seaweed which typically clouds the water.
Jagodna Beach
En route to Havr City and our windmill for a couple of nights, we stopped to check out Jagodna, which I had learned about on travel blog I stumbled upon, The Common Wanderer.
Jumping In!
The Beach to Ourselves...Almost
Hitting Croatia in the shoulder season, means avoiding the summer mobs. When you land on a beauty-of-a-day in the shoulder like we did, it made for a magical day in paradise seemingly to ourselves. We shared our portion of the beach with about half a dozen folks, but they were extremely ordinary compared to a few folks about 40 feet away. NUDISTS! The girls generally got a kick out of it, but did not want to get too close.
Ocean Swimming...First Time
Paige and Sadie have been in oceans in numerous places, but this is the first time they've really swam in deeper ocean water. The conditions are ideal in every way. Clear, less salty, warm, small surf. It was great to see them swimming in the pulse of an ocean...let's see how they do when we wrap up our year on Kauai...perhaps they'll be ready for the North Shore?
As we left the beach, I told Sarah: "that's the best beach day I've ever had, without waves ;)"
