Lazy Tel Aviv Day

It wasn't lazy in the sense that we didn't actually do anything, but we had no agenda and didn't make firm plans. It reminded us all of Lost Weekends in NYC.

Breakfast Out

Other than hotels, we haven't had an American style breakfast out on the trip. Reality is, most of the world doesn't do breakfast like us Americans; they're generally speaking much smaller and simpler than the calorie consuming event we've created.

We went to a 24/7 breakfast joint call Benedict, just a couple of blocks from where we're staying, on the reco of NYC friends who used to live in this neighborhood.

Sarah and I went for an Israeli twist while Paige had a bagel with salmon and Sadie pancakes.

School Time

Bellies full, it was time for school. It was a math day, Sadie working on a unit starting to understand equations and operations, while Paige tackled multiplication. Overall a solid day from the girls (and their teachers).

This school has a combined class consisting of a 1st grader and a 3rd grader, with a 1:1 student to teacher ratio.

Lunch Time

Sarah and I didn't eat, but the girls were hungry so they wanted a lunch before we headed out for the afternoon. Before we knew it, they were chopping and cooking. Paige made herself some sauteed zucchini for lunch and Sadie, sauteed carrots. It was a moment of wow for these little foodies.

Playground & Exercise

We decided to let the girls get some playground time. Coming off Croatia, Greece and Egypt there hadn't been very many playgrounds for the them to check out. Tel Aviv is certainly more like an American urban city with playgrounds seemingly every few blocks - one major difference, the playgrounds here have bomb shelters.

Adjacent to the playground, was a little exercise area where the girls had some fun, as you'll see here:

Sarah went for a run along the beach while I did a workout next to the playground. I've had to pause my running around the world since a horse stepped on my foot last week in Egypt - seriously, read about it in this post.

Beach Time

We then headed over to the beach to take a dip in the Mediterranean.

Email from Paige

We headed back for a home cooked meal and we were seemingly in for the night. Paige came over and nudge me saying, "I think you got a text from Alex." After Sarah nudged me to check my email, I discovered the following message.

This lead to capping the night off with a nice family treat. As fun as the treat was, a sudden lightning and rain storm flooded the streets on our walk home!

A nice wrapped to a no agenda day in Tel Aviv!

Wandering the street of Tel Aviv today.
