Gramps is 70!

Happy 70th Birthday, Dad!!

Zoom It Up!

Not being able to physically gather to celebrate my Dad's milestone birthday, my Mom, sister and I schemed to plan a special way to celebrate the birthday guy! We landed on a family zoom and decided it would be fun to have all of us - grandchildren included - answer the same set of questions about Dad/Gramps, and share our answers on the video call.

We gathered together on August 8th (US time), ready to kick off the birthday celebrations. After some technical difficulties, the 11 of us were on the video call and excited to get started! All three of our households patching in were festive, with decorations, birthday signs, balloons, hats, birthday candles and the like! Erinn & crew had gimlet glasses to toast Gramps (classic!) and Erinn even donned the paper mache mask she'd made in high school of my Dad! Super fun vibe all around.

Let the birthday Zoom begin!!

Toast or Roast?

The ten of us took turns sharing our answers to the following four questions about Gramps, courtesy of the grandkiddos:

  • What's a word to describe Gramps?

  • What is Gramps' spirit animal?

  • What is Gramps' ideal day?

  • If you could go on a boat with Gramps, where would you go?

We compiled our answers, slides & pictures independent of one another, so it was extra fun to see what people said. Funny enough (and maybe not surprising), there was quite a bit of overlap! Dad/Gramps, you're an open book! haha :) Lots of good laughs at the answers people came up with, and pictures of Dad/Gramps through the years with all of us.

I obviously miss being with my Dad on his milestone 70th birthday, and cannot wait for the day the 11 of us are safely gathered back together for a belated celebration in his honor. In the meantime, the birthday zoom (a sign of the times) was an incredibly fun, special way to celebrate Dad/Gramps! We really enjoyed the chance to gather together, share stories of Dad/Gramps and bond over the laughs & celebration!

Happy, happy 70th birthday, Dad/Gramps! We all love you and hope for decades more of love, laughter and experiences together! XOXO
