Eating with our Hands

On our day wandering the hot and humid streets of the George Town neighborhood of Panang, we worked up an appetite for lunch. Noticing a cool colored building coming up, I had stepped back to take a picture when Sarah was motioning forward to me...

"Check this place out, we should eat here!"

I captured the moment of Eureka on Sarah's face.

Without hesitation, all four of us enthusiastically were in. Lunchtime at the Muthu Restaurant was hit!

This video tells the story well and captures our real time thoughts.

Hands on Eating

We've seen a good amount of hands eating on our trip in places like Egypt, Jordan, Dubai, India and now in Malaysia. I have to say, I never quite understood it, but it was explained to us that you can taste your food better and that you're in more control of your bites.

Watching everyone around us closely, each bite is like an art. Carefully combining different flavors and sauces in their hands.

I don't think we'll adopt full-time hand eating anytime soon, but like anything people do, once we tried it, at least we came away with an appreciation and understanding of how and why it's the way in so many cultures.

Indian is always a hit with the Boha-girls. Combine food they love with some hands on eating, and we were all hand-py.
