On the drive Eastward from Thimphu towards Punakha, you go past Dochula Pass.
Dochula Pass is a mountain pass in the Himalayas. It's the site of 108 memorial stupas (chortens) that memorialize the lives of the 108 Bhutanese soldiers who died in a 2003 military operation against Indian militants. As a result, 108 is a spiritual number in Bhutan.
3,100 meters up, it's known for its beautiful views of the snow-covered Himalayan mountain peaks. Sadly we didn't see any of those peaks because the weather wasn't cooperating the days we passed through. But it was still a really beautiful, misty & magical space to explore.
YouTubers in the Making
In other news, the girls have recently expressed interest in having their own YouTube channel (likely inspired by mindless slime-making YT videos they love to watch). They practiced some clips at Dochula Pass and actually did a really great job describing the location! Ready to subscribe?!
