After a great second day exploring the beauty of the Faroes, we headed into the capital city of Torshavn for an urban fix. Perhaps we were missing NYC?

We stopped at Brell Cafe where we enjoyed our first sour beer of the trip and the girls sipped on milk steamers. We chatted with a young lady in her 20s, born and raised in the Faroes. A couple interesting tidbits:

  • On the 18 Islands that make up the archipelago, all children are guaranteed education. On one island they opened a school for a couple of children; when they graduated, the school was closed.

  • In Copenhagen there is an area where young Faroese live/congregate as a social network. She said not to go there, it's "not a nice area you'd want to go to".

As for that urban fix, not a single patron walked into the cafe during the hour we were there!
