An NYC Oasis in Ko Lanta

During our a day of exploring the island of Ko Lanta, we stopped in Old Town for lunch. 99% of our meals are local cuisine, the occasional American junk food makes for a welcomed break. The last time was a month ago at Shake Shack in the Dubai airport.

Hungry people walking through Old Town.

Properly Burnt Pizza Crust

Looking at restaurants as we headed toward town, I found a pizza place that caught my eye. What stopped me scrolling in my tracks was the sight of the burnt crust. Everyone quickly agreed it was time for an oasis meal - something a bit like home, but nowhere near home.

Brooklyn, on a Dock

We came for the pizza at Di Farina, but didn’t realize what a cool spot we had stumbled upon. It had the cool Thai island vibe (no surprise) and it opened out onto a deck to the water (this was a surprise, as the front of Old Town offered no clue to the location).

Are We At The Posada Margarita in Tulum?

It reminded us of one of our favorite spots in Tulum, Mexico; the Posada Margarita. Some of the best Italian can be eaten there; I advise that you go there now.

The Pizza

It tasted amazing. It was likely pretty good and would last about two years in Brooklyn before going out of business, but in Ko Lanta, it was superb. Even Sadie finished her whole pizza, and she tends to be the bird in the family.

Here’s to our pizza Oasis.
