An Austrian Oasis

Sarah and I have "happy places". It's a place where we've had an experience that is amazing. Lunch at Posada Margherita in Tulum is one of those. It's the place and the people you're with.

Another place is the Jausenstation Schäffer-Huber in Sankt Lorenz, Austria. This became one of these gems for me during Alex & Alyssa's wedding in 2015.

"Let's Go for a Hike": 2015 Edition

A merry band of pirates (mostly Northwestern friends) set out for a hike without a plan the morning of Alex & Alyssa's wedding. Given our location in Austria, it was pretty much pick a mountain and go up...which we did. After an ~1.5 hours up, we found the equivalent of an Austrian oasis serving steins of beer.

I frequently think of, or bring up, this hike, as it's one of those happy places.

Since we cemented plans to come and visit Alex's Mom, I've been talking about this hike and what would certainly be a repeat. With just one wrong turn, I repeated the trip with a new crew and the same result. This time, we had the rest of our group meet us at the top.
