Alex & Alyssa in Austria

Our streak of seeing great friends during our travel continues in Austria. Alex and family were Austria when we arrived, visiting Alex's mother Hilkka, who is graciously hosting us during our stay.

Great friends with so much to catch up on ;). Trying to reorient after taking a wrong turn on a hike.

...read about the trail we were navigating above in this "Austrian Oasis" post.

Short but Sweet

We only had a few days in total to hang out, so upon arrival in Austria, we wasted no time.

Beer...the main course to any meal in Austria. Alyssa, Sarah, Andreas (attempting), Alex and Doug enjoy.

Book-ending The Summer

We met up on the East Coast in June for Andreas' Christening and became the little mans' Godparents (woo hoo!). Starting and ending the summer together Paige, Sadie, Emil & Andreas got right into the kid groove.

Ex Tennis Guys

As always, Alex and I spent time recounting tales from our tennis days, at Northwestern and on the tour post college. We got out for a quick run and workout, missing the type of shape we used to be in. Alex was my honorary first "guest" to join me tracking my runs around the world.

The Church where Alex & Alyssa married in 2015 and some local courts.

Alyssa married her ex tennis guy in St. Lorenzen. So on my final run, I named it in their honor as the "Witt Wedding Wobble." I ran by the Church they were married in and by some local tennis courts.

Feel Like a Part of Our Journey

We only overlapped a couple of days, but it was great. Speaking with Alex when they were back home in San Francisco, he mentioned that seeing us on the road he felt like they had been part of our journey and understand what it is we're now doing in a different way. Indeed.
