We woke up collectively happy after our corrective action to the far more remote Northern side of Phú Quốc Island.
Sarah and I pounded away on our keyboards until after 1:30am last night with blog catch up; we're determined to not get behind. Documenting this trip for us and the girls is hard and sometimes tedious work when all you want to do is rest...
New Zealand Planning
My Dad and Nan are joining us in New Zealand for a couple weeks during March. Our morning started at 8:00am for a call with them to finalize some planning. We made great progress and are inching toward starting to finalize and book everything.
Vietnamese coffees delivered ocean side were welcomed during the call, after our late night.
Sadie Drawing
While Sarah and I were on the call, Sadie was awake and spent about 20 minutes drawing by the beach while her big sister slept in a bit.
After our call was over, we joined Paige and Sadie who were already at breakfast. It was our first breakfast at the Gold Coast Resort, so they were eager to share the highs/lows of breakfast. Fresh spring rolls was the clear front runner in their collective opinion.
Pool & Planning
After breakfast, the plan was a school session, but the internet went out so we moved to the pool where P&S had the place to themselves. Sarah and I stayed on the NZ planning, hashing through our itinerary for the full 24 days we'll be there.
Parents Table & Kids Table
Sarah and I wanted to eat in front of the beach for lunch, while Paige and Sadie wanted to eat in the restaurant. To make it easy, we split up. The girls were eager to handle the entire experience themselves, ordering (pot stickers & red curry chicken) and all. They had a great time, chat chatting and laughing and turning their lunch date into an 1 hour+ affair.
Meanwhile, Sarah and I were pretty pleased with our lunch location...
School Time
After lunch we did a math "power hour" in the room, to escape the heat for a bit. Paige was eager to keep going on math. She's almost done with her current math unit; the next unit, she starts some basic Algebra building blocks, which for some reason she's really excited about. Not sure why...but we'll take it!
Pool & a Run
After school, I headed out for a run and discovered a cove with a little fishing village. If we had more time here, we would definitely go into town, but unfortunately we won't have time. I took a few videos while I was out and about. I must say I spent the majority of my time happy with the change we made to come to this northern part of the island.
When I got back from my run, we headed out for a family walk down the beach.
Water Huts
There are these little hut around 200-300 yards in the ocean. We're not certain what the are/what they are for, but most certainly it has a fishing utility. We'll make some inquiries tomorrow to find out.
We were able to walk out all the way. By the time we got to the farthest, I could barely stand.
While we were out in the clear water, checking out these huts and wondering what they were, I told Sarah:
"this is what I imagined off the track beach gems would be like in this part of the world."
$1 beer.
Steamy hot weather.
Warm clear water.
No junk food.
No overpriced souvenir shops.
No tour groups.
No cruise ships.
Guest from all over the world.
Locals a few feet away, doing their life.
