A New York Minute (in Venice)

After dinner we leisurely walked the magical streets of Venice. To get back to our hotel we had to walk through St Mark's Square. There were a few cafes along the perimeter of the plaza bustling with live music. Live music under the stars? I was smitten! I nudged us towards one cafe and insisted we plop ourselves down for a nightcap and a few tunes. These are exactly the kinds of experiences we should make time for in our travels.

We found a table right up front. Doug & I ordered a drink and the band played on. The quartet did such a terrific job and the girls were completely mesmerized. Like me, Paige especially had perma-smile the whole time :) Look at that grin & dimples!

I was definitely in my musical happy place. And I was completely embarrassing the girls by singing along to the tunes. Check out Paige's "security camera" video recording of the scene and them swatting away my musical contributions:

As if the night couldn't get any more magical under the stars & moon, the band played "New York, New York" as one of their final songs of the night! I'm pretty sure the universe delivered that especially for us New Yorkers in the crowd :) Goosebumps!

There was a table of four adults adjacent to ours that came over before we left, specifically to complement us on how well the girls behaved. Proud parent moment for us :)

Thank you, Venice! You delivered in spades. A day & night to remember always.
