A 43rd Birthday to Remember

I put my 43rd birthday celebration right up there with the best of all time! Other honorable mentions include Bilbo's 111th.

***Note*** - I'm writing this post from New Zealand in March 2020, exactly 187 days since my actual birthday! It's been on the back log, but here it is.

In the early afternoon I went out for a run, while the rest of the crew stayed back at the house. I ran up the hill to the cross visible from the house.

Surprise Party!

When I returned from my run, I was greeted at the end of the driveway by Paige who was jumping and yelling, "Daddy's home!" As I was escorted up the driveway with Paige, I was greeted to a birthday surprise. My Dad, Sarah & Sadie were on the terrace, waiting to greet me, having done the place up for a surprise party! It was awesome!

I had already been surprised with a visit to an organic farm a couple of days earlier, so I was not expecting this!

Back from my run, a birthday surprise from my family!

Pop Some Champagne

We started with some tunes, champagne and appetizers. We had picked up a bottle when we crashed the winery during our road trip from Venice to the house in Amelia.

Dinner

Just because it's my birthday doesn't mean I can't report for cooking duty, which I happily did. For a food and cooking lover, what's better than cooking a home cooked meal in Italy? We had some fun with a tall rosemary sprig.

Potatoes and chicken birthday feast.

A Guest for Dessert

Jamie Oliver is a family favorite. We love his passion for cooking, food and eating. I personally became a fan when he started his advocacy of healthy eating for kids and when I saw his Ted Talk, that's become a foodie favorite. I had also just recently seen him speak at the 92nd Street Y in NYC, prior to departing on our adventure.

No, Jamie Oliver did not join us for dinner. But, his recipe for brownies did.

The Boha-girls made Jamie's delicious dark chocolate brownie from scratch. Here are some pics they took while working hard earlier in the day.

From scratch!

The perfect partner for the brownies was some of the local gelato, of course!

Thanks to Sarah, Sadie, Paige and my Dad for making it a birthday I'll remember forever. It doesn't get better than this!
